Waterproof Test for ELGENS Panel PC with P-Cap Touch Function

ELGENS presents a waterproof test to evaluate the P-Cap touch performance of its Panel PC under simulated outdoor rain conditions.

The test includes three different scenarios:

1. Light Rain Simulation — 90° Normal Installation

The first test simulates a light rain condition with the Panel PC installed vertically at 90 degrees, which represents a typical outdoor installation method.

Under this condition, the P-Cap touch function operates normally and is not affected by the simulated rain. This confirms that the touch panel can maintain stable operation during normal outdoor use.

2. Heavy Rain with Partial Water Accumulation — 180° Flat Placement

The second test simulates heavier rain with some water accumulation while the Panel PC is placed flat at 180 degrees.

Under this stricter condition, the touch function continues to work in most areas. However, when the water-covered area becomes larger, the touch function may be affected in the water-covered region. Areas without water remain functional and are not affected.

3. Heavy Rain with Large Water Coverage — 180° Flat Placement

The third test simulates heavy rain with a larger water-covered area while the Panel PC remains flat at 180 degrees.

In this scenario, the water-covered area may cause abnormal touch signals, even when there is no actual finger contact on the display. This is a typical limitation of projected capacitive touch technology when a large amount of water remains on the touch surface.

In normal applications, the Panel PC is generally installed vertically at 90 degrees rather than laid flat at 180 degrees. Therefore, the 180-degree flat placement test represents a more severe condition than typical real-world installation.

After the water is wiped off, the P-Cap touch function returns to normal operation, confirming the Panel PC’s touch reliability for standard outdoor deployment and rain-exposed environments.

This test demonstrates ELGENS’ commitment to validating product performance under practical and challenging environmental conditions.
