FAQ

Which processors do ELGENS Panel PCs use, and how should they be selected based on the application?

The ELGENS Panel PC lineup includes 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Gen Intel Core processor series, with some products also using low-power processors. The LPC-P156WAG-2Tx uses Intel Tiger Lake-UP3 Core i3/i5/i7 processors; the LPC-P215WAG-2xMTN/H supports 12th-14th Gen LGA1700 Core i processors up to 35W.

For applications that require AI inference or edge computing, ELGENS also offers the X-Corleone AI Edge Server, which can be configured with Intel processors and an NVIDIA Quadro RTX A2000 AI GPU. When selecting a platform, provide details about the application software, image processing, AI models, computing workload, power consumption, and ambient temperature so ELGENS can help select a suitable CPU/GPU platform.

Do all Panel PCs have the same memory and storage capacities and interfaces?

Not necessarily. The LPC-P156WAG-2Tx provides 2 DDR4 SO-DIMM slots, supporting up to 64GB, along with a 2.5-inch storage bay and an M.2 NVMe slot. The LPC-P101WAG-3Tx offers CFast and M.2 NVMe; the LPC-P215WAG-2xMTN/H offers M.2 PCIe SSD storage and dual 2.5-inch storage bays.

For secure computing platforms such as X-Corleone or Shelby, requirements may also involve TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, full-disk encryption, LUKS, or data protection. Memory, storage capacity, RAID, encryption, and cybersecurity configurations should all be confirmed early in the project.

How can I verify a Panel PC's I/O when connecting a PLC, scanner, or camera?

First, list the interface types, quantities, data transfer rates, and communication protocols required by the external devices, then compare them with the target model's I/O specifications. For example, the I/O specifications for the LPC-P156WAG-2Tx list USB, RJ45 LAN, DisplayPort, HDMI, RS-232/422/485, audio, and power terminals.

ELGENS' official test data also show examples of integration with WAGO, Siemens, Rockwell, and EtherCAT devices or systems. If the standard I/O is insufficient, ELGENS can also evaluate I/O expansion, specialized connectors, communication modules, and cabling configurations on a project-by-project basis.

Do Panel PCs use standard terminal connectors or RJ45 connectors, or can they use military-grade connectors?

Connector types vary by product series and project configuration. Standard industrial Panel PCs may use 3-pin power terminals, RJ45 connectors, and standard I/O; defense-grade products may use MIL-DTL-38999 or D26482 military-grade connectors to improve connection reliability in environments subject to vibration and reduce the risk of accidental disconnection.

ELGENS can integrate military-grade connectors, wiring harnesses, pin assignments, and mechanical interfaces to meet the requirements of military, in-vehicle, marine, and industrial systems. If existing wiring harnesses need to be retained at the installation site, confirm the connector type, pin assignments, cable length, shielding, and grounding method before placing an order.

Does a fanless Panel PC allow unrestricted upgrades or installation of expansion cards?

No. A fanless design can reduce fan failures and maintenance requirements, but the modules that can be installed are still subject to limitations imposed by slot specifications, power consumption, dimensions, heat dissipation, firmware, and environmental conditions. Some ELGENS models provide M.2 B-key, E-key, or M-key slots, but an M.2 slot does not mean that any expansion card can be installed.

ELGENS's fanless design should also be evaluated in conjunction with the overall thermal design, mechanical design, IP protection, and mission environment. For example, the X-Corleone series features a fanless design with IP67 protection and a design temperature range of -40°C to 70°C, but actual expansion options and AI GPU configurations must still be confirmed against the product specifications.
