FAQ

How can I check the BIOS version when troubleshooting an issue or requesting a custom BIOS?

In Windows, press Win + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. Check the "BIOS Version/Date" field in "System Information." You can also use PowerShell:

Get-CimInstance Win32_BIOS | Format-List Manufacturer,SMBIOSBIOSVersion,ReleaseDate

Another method is to press the designated key, such as Del, F2, or F10, during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup screen, then check the Main, Information, or System Information page. The specific key depends on the ELGENS model.

If you are using Linux, run sudo dmidecode -t bios.

When contacting ELGENS technical support or requesting a custom BIOS, we recommend providing the full model number, serial number, BIOS version and date, EC/firmware version, CPU, memory, operating system, and a description of the issue.

For military or high-security projects, you can also specify requirements for Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, boot order, automatic power-on after a power loss, COM Port, I/O, or secure firmware. Some ELGENS platforms offer TPM, Secure Boot, and PQC-related cybersecurity capabilities, but the actual features must be confirmed for the specific product and customized configuration.

Does AG (anti-glare) mean the screen is completely reflection-free?

No. AG (Anti-Glare) primarily reduces glare and some reflections. It does not mean the screen is completely free of reflections at all viewing angles or under bright lighting conditions. AR (Anti-Reflection) focuses on reducing reflections, while optical bonding can reduce the air gap between the panel and the protective glass.

ELGENS military, marine, and outdoor displays can be configured with optical bonding, AG, AR, high brightness, vandal-resistant glass, and anti-reflection materials based on mission requirements. If the product will be installed on a ship's bridge, in a command center, or in a location exposed to direct sunlight, we recommend providing information about the actual light sources and viewing angles during product selection so that ELGENS can evaluate the appropriate optical configuration.

How long is the warranty on ELGENS products, and how do I request repair service if a product fails?

ELGENS standard products carry a one-year warranty from the date they leave the ELGENS warehouse. If a failure occurs under normal use, ELGENS may choose to repair or replace the product in accordance with its policy. Parts and labor are generally provided at no charge, but shipping costs are the customer's responsibility. Repairs are covered by an additional 90-day repair warranty; the applicable terms remain subject to the official warranty policy and a case-by-case determination.

ELGENS also provides technical support, repair, and custom integration services. When submitting a request, we recommend providing the model number, serial number, purchase or shipping information, a description of the failure, photos, the BIOS/firmware version, and the operating environment. For military or maritime equipment in particular, avoid disassembling the unit yourself or flashing unverified firmware.

What screen brightness should I choose for outdoor or bright-light environments?

Brightness requirements should be evaluated based on ambient light, installation angle, viewing distance, exposure to direct sunlight, and whether day/night switching is required.

Some ELGENS military and maritime products offer high-brightness configurations of 1000-1500 nits. For example, the official specifications for the TDM-D238 list 1500 nits, paired with AG and optical bonding to improve outdoor readability. Some products also support brightness adjustment, deep dimming, or NVIS-related applications, making them suitable for command centers, ships, in-vehicle installations, and nighttime mission environments.

What evidence supports the vibration and shock resistance of ELGENS Panel PCs?

The official specifications, test reports, or compliance documentation for the specific model should serve as the basis. For example, the LPC-P156WAG-2Tx is officially listed as compliant with MIL-STD-810H, and ELGENS test documentation has also shown an example of a Panel PC undergoing 1.5 Grms vibration testing in accordance with IEC-60068-2-64.

For its military and maritime products, ELGENS evaluates vibration, shock, temperature, electromagnetic compatibility, and power supply conditions based on the mission platform, and can provide product testing, custom integration, and project-specific testing support. Test conditions, mounting methods, and configurations may vary by product, so test results for a single model cannot be applied to the entire product lineup.

How should I choose between ELGENS P-cap and resistive touch technologies?

P-cap (projected capacitive) touch is suitable for applications requiring multi-touch, swiping, zooming, or operation with fingers or gloves; resistive touch can accommodate a stylus, gloves, or specific interaction methods depending on project requirements.

ELGENS official product and test documentation includes examples of P-cap, resistive touch, multi-touch, and touch operation with rubber gloves. For military, maritime, and outdoor applications, ELGENS can also evaluate touch solutions based on glove materials, rainy conditions, interaction methods, and display structure. Actual features and whether they are optional must still be confirmed for the complete model number.

What screen sizes does ELGENS offer, and how should I choose a size?

ELGENS offers product series ranging from small displays and standard industrial sizes to large displays or displays with specialized aspect ratios. The Panel PC product category includes various sizes from 10.1 inches to 24 inches.

When selecting a size, we recommend first confirming the available installation space and cutout dimensions, viewing distance, amount of information to be displayed, and whether touch operation is required. For applications on ship bridges, in command centers, in vehicle-mounted equipment, or in specialized mechanical assemblies, ELGENS can also evaluate mechanical dimensions, panel type, brightness, touch functionality, and mounting methods on a project-by-project basis.

How can I verify a Panel PC's I/O when connecting a PLC, scanner, or camera?

First, list the interface types, quantities, data transfer rates, and communication protocols required by the external devices, then compare them with the target model's I/O specifications. For example, the I/O specifications for the LPC-P156WAG-2Tx list USB, RJ45 LAN, DisplayPort, HDMI, RS-232/422/485, audio, and power terminals.

ELGENS' official test data also show examples of integration with WAGO, Siemens, Rockwell, and EtherCAT devices or systems. If the standard I/O is insufficient, ELGENS can also evaluate I/O expansion, specialized connectors, communication modules, and cabling configurations on a project-by-project basis.
