FAQ

How can the IP protection of a display or Panel PC be maintained after installation, wiring, and repairs?

Installation work should follow the installation drawings, manual, and test conditions for the specific model, with attention to the following:

1. Verify that the cutout dimensions, panel flatness, and mounting frame meet the specifications.
2. Verify that the waterproof gaskets, sealing strips, or front bezel contact surfaces are intact, with no twisting, damage, or trapped foreign objects.
3. Tighten the mounting screws as specified. Avoid leaving screws too loose, which can allow water ingress, or overtightening them, which can deform the seals.
4. Verify that the power, signal, and I/O connectors are fully seated, and use compatible military-standard or waterproof connectors.
5. Seal cable exits, cable glands, and unused openings according to the product specifications.
6. After repairs, disassembly and reassembly, or touch glass replacement, recheck the seals. Do not assume that the original IP protection is automatically maintained after repairs.
7. When cleaning, avoid using high-pressure water jets directly on the product, and do not spray cleaning solutions directly toward panel edges, connectors, or ventilation areas.

ELGENS has integrated hardware, mechanical, and thermal design capabilities and also performs pre-shipment assembly and quality inspections. For specialized military or maritime projects, post-installation protection conditions can also be confirmed during the quotation and testing stages.

How should I confirm a product's end-of-life (EOL) status and ongoing maintenance support?

Contact ELGENS to confirm the product's current availability, EOL notifications, replacement models, repair parts, and firmware and documentation support. The official LPC-D240 Series page explicitly lists 10 years of long-term supply support and proactive EOL notifications, but this information should not be assumed to apply to all products.

Through supply chain integration, version control, long-term supply planning, and customization support, ELGENS can help defense, maritime, and industrial projects reduce product lifecycle risks. If a project involves government or defense procurement, it is also advisable to confirm NCAGE, supplier qualifications, alternative components, repair turnaround times, and document retention requirements before deployment.

Do Panel PCs use standard terminal connectors or RJ45 connectors, or can they use military-grade connectors?

Connector types vary by product series and project configuration. Standard industrial Panel PCs may use 3-pin power terminals, RJ45 connectors, and standard I/O; defense-grade products may use MIL-DTL-38999 or D26482 military-grade connectors to improve connection reliability in environments subject to vibration and reduce the risk of accidental disconnection.

ELGENS can integrate military-grade connectors, wiring harnesses, pin assignments, and mechanical interfaces to meet the requirements of military, in-vehicle, marine, and industrial systems. If existing wiring harnesses need to be retained at the installation site, confirm the connector type, pin assignments, cable length, shielding, and grounding method before placing an order.

What are the differences between optical bonding, AG, and AR surface treatments? How should I choose?

Optical bonding can reduce the air gap between the display panel and protective glass, helping improve sunlight readability, image clarity, and structural durability. AG primarily reduces glare, while AR focuses on reducing reflections.

ELGENS military, maritime, and outdoor displays can be configured with optical bonding, AG, AR, high brightness, vandal-resistant glass, and anti-reflection materials based on mission requirements. For navigation, night vision, in-vehicle, or command center applications, we recommend providing information on light sources, viewing angles, and operating hours early in the project so ELGENS can evaluate optical integration.

Do all ELGENS displays have 4K resolution?

No. Resolution depends on the product model and application requirements. For example, the TDM-D238 is a 23.8-inch 4K rugged display with a resolution of 3840 × 2160, while the TDM-P240WT has a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080.

ELGENS offers different resolutions, signal interfaces, and display sizes based on requirements for military imaging, surveillance, navigation, C5ISR, bridge applications, or industrial control. To use a 4K signal, you also need to verify the signal source, SDI/HDMI/DisplayPort interfaces, bandwidth, and system compatibility.

What information should I provide when requesting a quote or comparing ELGENS models?

We recommend providing the following information:

• Deployment environment and equipment platform, such as marine vessels, vehicles, outdoor locations, factories, or command centers.
• Screen size, viewing distance, installation space, and cutout dimensions.
• Video sources, resolution, brightness, and required input interfaces.
• Touch input method, glove operation, rainy conditions, or vandal-resistance requirements.
• Operating temperature, IP protection, vibration, shock, and humidity conditions.
• Required MIL-STD, IEC 60945, NVIS, or other compliance documentation.
• Panel PC CPU, RAM, storage, I/O, operating system, and application workload.
• AI, GPU, PQC, TPM, Secure Boot, or data encryption requirements.
• Project quantity, lead time, lifecycle, and long-term supply requirements.

ELGENS offers hardware/software integration, rapid customization, prototype development, and testing support, helping prime contractors, system integrators, and government projects organize product and compliance requirements. For defense or government projects, you may also specify supplier qualification, NCAGE, or cybersecurity documentation requirements to facilitate preliminary assessment.

Does a fanless Panel PC allow unrestricted upgrades or installation of expansion cards?

No. A fanless design can reduce fan failures and maintenance requirements, but the modules that can be installed are still subject to limitations imposed by slot specifications, power consumption, dimensions, heat dissipation, firmware, and environmental conditions. Some ELGENS models provide M.2 B-key, E-key, or M-key slots, but an M.2 slot does not mean that any expansion card can be installed.

ELGENS's fanless design should also be evaluated in conjunction with the overall thermal design, mechanical design, IP protection, and mission environment. For example, the X-Corleone series features a fanless design with IP67 protection and a design temperature range of -40°C to 70°C, but actual expansion options and AI GPU configurations must still be confirmed against the product specifications.

What protective glass configurations does ELGENS offer? Is thicker or vandal-resistant glass available for all models?

Protective glass configurations vary by model and project. Some ELGENS products offer options such as non-touch glass, AG, AR, optical bonding, or project-specific vandal-resistant glass. Official test data has also shown examples of 6 mm protective glass and IK08 vandal-resistance testing.

ELGENS can integrate protective glass, metal structures, touch functionality, and front-panel protection to meet the requirements of vehicle-mounted, naval vessel, outdoor command, or industrial applications. However, these test examples do not mean that all products use the same glass thickness or protection rating. Before placing an order, confirm the glass thickness, touch technology, surface treatment, scope of testing, and certification documentation.
